Sorry, that’s not possible with Simple Object Designer. It’s on my todo list, but Microsoft’s way of doing that is not very good.

are there any news to this topic?
I added a field to my items List named –> Reference.
If I search for a name it unfortunately ignores it.
It’s possible in the latest version of Simple Object Designer to mark a field to be part of the search drop down. Open field settings to set the setting.
Look for version 12.0.0.562 or later.
