Calculated field in report – get value from related table

Hi

For my purchase order report I want to get the phone number related to the purchaser on the header from the salesperson/purchaser table.

but I cannot seem to figure out the syntax for looking this up in the expression editor in the simple object designer,

is this possible and how might I do it?
