Hi all,
We are currently in the process of implementing BC and I’ve been playing around with the SOD in the sandbox for a few weeks. Last week the production environment was created and I finally convinced my colleagues I really needed the SOD.
I’ve installed the SOD in our production environment, but now I’m wondering what the best way is to get the sandbox creations in production and keep them synched.
I’ve only created about 7 fields, placed them on some pages and created a few API’s. So I could just recreate this in production and synch it manually. Always create in sandbox and after testing recreate in production. Certainly doable, but there might be a better way?
What happens if I create an app-file in sandbox and install in it production. Will that update the SOD (the tiles) in production? And what about the next time? Do i uninstall the previous version of the app, or just install the new one?
I’m completely new to BC and our consultants are reluctant to help me with this. They don’t really like 3rd party apps during implementation… So i have to do it myself and I don’t want to mess it up right away.
I did search the support page and the internet for a bit, watched a lot of Erik’s youtube videos ofcourse, but I couldn’t find any info on this process.
Any help would be appreciated! Sorry for being such a noob 🙂
The normal process is to do your development work in a sandbox. When you do that with the registered version of SOD, you’ll have a .app file downloaded each time you publish.
That file, you can, when you’re happy with your app in the sandbox, upload to Extension Management in production. So SOD doesn’t even have to be installed in production.
If you look at the URL from the sandbox, you only need to replace the name of the sandbox with the name of your production environment (typically “production”).
The .app file that downloads when you publish to the sandbox can be uploaded to extension management in production.
Thanks so much!
Unistalled the SOD from production and installed my downloaded app from the sandbox. I can see my fields and tables, but where do I find the URL’s for my API’s in production? In the sandbox they are in the SOD-app.
